Melbourne graffiti for heritage protection

The debate surrounding graffiti has been reignited in Melbourne today with the city’s laneway art being considered for heritage protection.

Australia’s National Trust and Heritage Victoria are both supporting a move to protect the city’s graffiti, but some local council groups say this would just give a green light to vandals.

Sideshow is an exhibition put together by a group of illustration students from NMIT.

The aim of the show is to raise funds for their combined end of year exhibition in August. The exhibition will showcase a diverse and innovative range of talent, at affordable prices. There will be raffles for show bags containing donated artworks, toys, badges and live painting performed by participating artists. The resulting piece will be included in the raffle draw. There will also be tasty tunes provided by DJ Little Cake, alcohol and cupcakes will be available for a gold coin donation. Exhibition Runs from 1st till 14th of June - Opening night 1st June 6-9pm. Hope to see you there.
