Leah Fraser at the Black and Blue Gallery

black and blue

Opening Night November 8th
6pm - 10pm

Local artist Leah Fraser’s work is a visual expression to her inner world.
Her portraits focus on esoteric ideas, the spiritual and physical effects that spring from heightened emotional experiences.
These heightened states are woven in with themes of mysticism and magic. Here, reality and the subconscious merge and we encounter dream-like subjects. Leah’s portraits are never a true representation of any one person and they are better understood as a response to those around her.

Her debut show incorporates a number of metaphors throughout each artwork. Animals and nature are interchangeable with human qualities and states of being. They symbolise something closer to childhood, dreams, the dark of night and the wilderness. The very essence of what it is to feel fully alive, to feel wild. Her palette expresses emotional states.
