It appears that Minister Stephen Conroy is at it again with his internet filtering ideas.

When a Bill Henson fan site was included in the government’s banned websites list, only to be removed because of an “error, while blaming the addition of a dentist’s site to the blacklist on the “Russian mob”.”

It’s almost a paradox, as the “Russian mob” have more control of our internet than Minister Stephen Conroy does, so why don’t we just ask them to maintain the list for us?

Minister Stephen Conroy was recently quoted as saying “If people think [leaking the list] is a victory for free speech, to make available that sort of information, they have a perverse sense of free speech,” after the list of soon to be banned sites made its way to the web.

Slap us down with a tallyhoe and call us perverse, but how are you going to decide what is good and bad? Will Getup come under scrutiny because it doesn’t agree with you, and better yet, what about us?

Minister Conroy, If you want to filter Australia’s Interwebz like Iran or China, then lets rename our country atleast to Australirana.
