The Bugs of Cornelia Hesse-Honegger

The deformed insect watercolours of Cornelia Hesse-Honegger are an eerily beautiful reminder of the fragility of the natural world.
Cornelia Hesse-Honegger’s work is an interface between art and science; it plays witness to a beautiful but endangered nature. Since the catastrophe of Chernobyl in 1986, she has collected, studied and painted morphologically disturbed insects, which she finds in the fallout areas of Chernobyl as well as near nuclear installations.
