The Adventures of my Camera by Jazzmine Evans

Artists dont get paid, they do it for the love, ask wutang.

Do you really expect to get paid? An economic study of professional artists in Australia (‘the artist survey’). This study is the fifth in a series commissioned by the Australia Council and conducted independently by Professor David Throsby from Macquarie University. Anita Zednik was the co-author of this study.

TMOD new range

TMOD are excited to be launching their new range of interactive scratchie cards, rip cards and a new edition of interactive TMOD puppets for 2010.
The scratchie cards are A6 postcards that come with a metal charm slotted into the card, which is used to scratch off the silver layer to reveal the hidden image, and the gift and art cards are available with messages such as ‘happy birthday’ and ‘thank you’ .

Academy of Interactive Entertainment

If you considering a career in Game Design or development, then you should head over to AIE on the 22nd of August for their open day.

The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is Australia’s most awarded specialist educator, getting graduates into the world of 3D animation, game programming, visual effects, game design and development since 1996.  AIE is nationally accredited under the Australian Qualification Framework and has campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

Bike Rack As Art Competition

The Bike Rack As Art Competition is presented by the Powerhouse Museum (the “Musuem”), Sydney, Australia and the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), as part of the NSW BikePlan. The Museum is part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Australia’s leading cultural institution dedicated to celebrating human ingenuity. The RTA is the NSW State Government agency responsible for improving road safety, testing and licensing drivers and registering and inspecting vehicles, and managing the road network to achieve consistent travel times.

Therese Ritchie Interview

The 31st Darwin Festival begins on the 12th August showcasing the creative forces of the Top End across all genres of dance, music and art. Of the 75 different events appearing at this year’s festival 47 incorporate local artists and performers.

 “31 years ago this was a festival for the people of Darwin, and now thirty-one years on Darwin’s local artists and art makers have developed to such a high standard, nationally and internationally, that the festival has now returned to them”, says Artistic Director Jo Duffy. 

Design Federation caught up with participating artists, Therese Ritchie to have a chat about her work and art in the Territory.
