Interview with loveariel
We offered to to kill our stuffed cat if the questions were lame. Looks like kitty goes bye bye…
What is your name and where are you located?
loveariel, fernside/surryhills.Where did you learn your craft?
bordom creates vision.
What is your artistic medium of choice? Why that medium?
charcole and ink on anything smooth and white. but anything thats lying around will do really. creativity makes do, but the more fluent the better.
How do you think/want other people to respond to your art?
violently i would hope.some people like it, some people dont… either way doesn’t really effect the out come.
Who Influences your work?
allot of that toluse graff scene used to inspire me, fafi, miss van. others were junko mizuno, audrey
kawasaki, abbey mccolluch there have been so many.
more recently i am being inspired by fashion and the strange people that rule it. images of beautiful frail helpless babys in the body’s of man made amazonian coat hangers…sex, pain, illness, youth, bones, love, super natural, blood, drool, tears etc.
Your art looks somewhat 80’s inspired. Is this intentional?
no, but i do sometimes go a bit spastic over bright colours. these days i like to just pick one colour with some black, white and greys.
A lot of your work is of the female form, why do you prefer to focus on women rather than men?
i suppose at this young stage in my career i am still finding myself and portraying alot of what im looking for through my images, and putting alot of my own reflectinon into my works.i can paint just about anything if i try, but at this stage i enjoy women.
men are dirty ugly beasts anyway. dont get me wrong, thats why we like em, but fuck having portraits of them.
What is it like being involved with curvy?
yeah it was alright, curvy is a radd book. they spelt Loveariel as two words though, that was kinda annoying.
How will you measure your level of success/achievement?
um, i dunno man. thats not really what its about for me.i suppose it depends on how happy i am . and how many people i can make happy.
Can you let us in on any trade secrets?
you where right these questions are lame.. ill kill that cat myself.
crystal children, nothing matters.fuck everyone and everything, just do what makes you happy.
free expression as revolution.
