We first saw Meet Tyrone at shirty07 and now we find out who is behind the label

What is your name and label and where are you located?
My name is Bill Chen, My label is ‘Meet Tyrone’ and I am based in Sydney.

What do you like most about designing for fashion rather than print or web?
I think it is more expressive and not limited to the computer screen or paper format. It’s more fun too!

What do you think of the current crop of offensive large lettered unfunny slogan based designed t-shirts?
They are only funny to look at through chain emails but that’s about it.

Is your murder mystery range beyond good and evil?
I think it goes beyond by flirting with the edge of what is good and what is evil and fusing it together as there is a little bit of both in all of us?

Are you a fan of Hitchcock?
Yes I have watched most of his films and had the privilege of studying him in film school for a year.

Who are some of your favourite artists/fashionistas?
Alexander McQueen, Henrik Vibskov

How do you think/want other people to respond to your designs?
I want the first reaction to be ‘Wow’ - Meet Tyrone is edgy and playful and the prints are often inspired by the most inanimate of objects for example the new winter range ‘Murder Mystery’ is about the darkness and intrigue of horror films. I want people to be intrigued by the print, quality of the fabric and the cut.
