A biannual exhibition of sculpture and installation art that responds to the politics and poetics of shared green space in the city.
Cross-pollinations recalls the history of Maundrell Park as a former plant nursery containing seedbeds, ferneries, fishponds and a hothouse. The exhibition brings together local artists with those from further afield, and seeks to propagate new perspectives on how our ”˜natural’ environment is understood, shaped and contested.
Exhibiting artists include James Gulliver Hancock, Indonesian collective Tanam Untuk Kehidupan, Brendan Penzer (presenting an interactive art marathon involving 100 sculptures shown over 5 hours”…), Jane Gillings, Greg Shapley, Elke Wohlfahrt, Rebecca Pearson, Huyen-Trang Tran, Tessa Rapaport & Karl Logge and Nobody.
Presented by Marrickville Council, ”˜Art in the Park’ is now in its fourth year, and continues to showcase the work of emerging and established artists in a unique outdoor gallery space.
Bring along a picnic and be a part of the conversation.
