Levis® wants green designers to let it all hang out – with big cash rewards on offer

Lets face it, the clothesline occupies a massive amount of space in a backyard, and so many of us don’t even have the luxury of a backyard anymore. Even when there is space, aside from the childhood joy of grabbing onto a spoke with both hands and being swung around until you either fell off or Mum shouted at you, the clothesline really hasn’t evolved to be any better (re: use of space / drying efficiency) since inception. This in turn has lead to a big increase in the use of dryers, which as we all know, is not good for the environment. Read the Rest of Carolyns Article →

Well, tie me up – it’s LULU in Chains

It’s been a fashionable couple of weeks in Sydney. Which can make it that much harder to actually find some of the more talented up and comers, who can easily be overshadowed by some of the more dominant players within Sydney’s fashion scene.
So it was with a level of keen interest that I went along to the Lulu in Chains Autumn/Winter launch at The Loft. Lulu In Chains recently won the coveted award for “up and coming” designer from 2threads.com.au, and after bearing witness to the collection, it’s easy to see why. Read all about LULU in Chains →

Flipsters – clever design for comfort

There have been many fashion versus comfort atrocities over the years. Most of the seasoned fashionistas are dedicated to the cause of appearance over any pain that may be caused on an evening out – but the towering 12cm heels preferred by many women (and a lack of seating at many functions, it must be noted) can be almost crippling. It one particularly horrifying example, I was actually witness to a group of early twenty somethings who were walking barefoot and carrying their heels on the way OUT– which is really telling the world you have given up. Paul Denz makes short work of Spring/Summer10

It is insane that in this current climate Australian men still have the problem of trying to buy stylish but relaxed clothing (especially shorts) that actually fit them correctly. Being of the female persuasion, I have often wondered why men frequently go so wrong in shorts. So many of them are ill fitting: baggy, billowy, or so ridiculously tight that they leave nothing to the imagination – front or back. And that, simply, is unpleasant. Read all about Paul Denz →

Serpent and the Swan – Autumn Winter Collection 2010

With the sudden and immediate heat wave that has been engulfing Sydney of late, having a look at a range of winter knits was probably not the most inviting proposition for a Tuesday night. However, always being interested in what new labels are designing in Sydney was motivation enough to have a look at what the fashion forward will be wearing next winter. And the range that was presented definitely made me glad I made the effort to go along. Read The rest of Article about Serpent and the Swan →

A shocking time of it – G-Shock hits Sydney

November 19th saw the Sydney event for the G-Shock ‘shock the world’ tour. G-Shock watches have been around for nearly 20 years, developed by the sensible house of Casio in order for people to be able to play sport and run over them in the car without fear of breakage. They have been born out of the need for something that is truly tough, and if you were around in 1983, these were the serious business.
They have had an interesting ride in terms of their branding though. There seemed to be a bit of heyday in the mid 90’s where everyone from the Spice Girls to extreme sports stars were getting into having their own watch. So, the fine manufacturers at Casio have seen that they are due for a proper resurgence – which brings us to the main event. Read the rest of - A shocking time of it →
